Infrared…
I have long been interested in infrared photography. In the
nineties, I did a portrait project with Kodak Infrared black & white film. It
was hard to work with and very unpredictable, but occasionally, I got some
magical images.
Fast forward to the present. Although I only use digital now, I still hungered
for the drama of infrared. I first experimented with IR filters over the lens.
Even though this works, the slow shutter speeds and inability to see thru the
viewfinder makes for a cumbersome process.
No longer willing to compromise, I recently had my Canon D60 converted to
infrared and it has been a joy to use!
Life Pixel
did a great job and I highly recommend them;
click the Life Pixel banner below.
This conversion removes the “hot filter” from the camera and substitutes an IR
filter. This allows normal viewing and a full range of shutter speeds. The
resulting images rival anything I ever got with the Kodak IR film and are a
whole lot easier to capture!
I am still learning but below are 2
galleries of early efforts. Click on each thumbnail to view larger photo.
