machine pieced & quilted with rayon threads, & beading. 100% cotton fabric, 80%
cotton/20% polyester batting
This piece is a tribute to the rock art of the Americas ancestors. Honored are
many petroglyphsBirthing Woman, Moab Man, and the Hunting Lesson from Glen Canyon.
Also represented are celestial bodiesincluding Halleys Comet and the sun. The
petrogylphs and pictographs are dye-discharged with chorine bleach. The machine quilting
is completely freeform, with no marking in rayon threads.
Award & Exhibitions: Silver award at the 5th
Annual Quilt Nihon Exhibition in Tokyo, Japan and is traveling in Japan until December
of 1999. (Jurors: Michael James, Jonathon Holstein, Junichi Arai, Masue Ikeda, Kei
Kobayashi, Chuck Nohara and Shigeo Fukuda.)
Also exhibited in the 1997 Night Walker Annual Juried Art Exhibition (Juror:
Romon Kelley) in Fort Collins, Colorado where it survived a terrible flood and the Front
Range Contemporary Quilters 1997 Member Show, Denver, Colorado (Juror: Connie Lehman.) |
